This two-hour course is designed to teach maintenance workers how to address small amounts (less than ten square feet) of visible mold growth resulting from water leaks or other sources of water intrusion. The course includes a basic discussion of what is meant by “mold” and the associated health effects from indoor mold. Work practices discussed in this class are designed to clean areas with less than ten square feet of visible mold growth. This work can be done with only minimal containment and without respirators and protective clothing. Additional information is provided to help students evaluate problems and determine when they can conduct the remediation and when an outside contractor must be utilized. Respiratory protection training is not included in this course since the work is designed to be done by maintenance personnel not utilizing respirators.
